FRANCIS DICKIE - MARGARET CAMPBELL

FRANCIS DICKIE was born at Killochhead Farm, Mauchline on the 16th of June 1758. (Transcribed from OPR)

Son of Alexander Dickie and Marion Barr.

According to his daughter Jane's death certificate, Francis was a 'Master Joiner'.

MARGARET CAMPBELL's parents are unknown. At the time of her marriage she is said to be "in Meikleyard". (Transcribed from OPR)

Francis is the brother of James Dickie.

Children:

  1. Hugh Campbell Dickie, born in Cockmoss, Galston on the 4th of April 1790 and baptised on the 11th of April. (Transcribed from OPR)
    Hugh was a Weigher with H.M. Customs in 1851. At that time he was living in Shore Street, Port Glasgow, with his wife Mary (born Ayr c.1803). The 1851 census gives his place of birth as Kilmarnock.

    Jane married James Weir, son of Robert Weir and Margaret McKinlay.

    Francis was a Cabinet Maker. He was married to Susan McLelland and they had at least six children. Francis is at 9 Clark Street, Kilmarnock, on the 1881 census; and died there on the 7th of November 1882.
