Son of Andrew Wilson and Ann Young.

AGNES YOUNG was born at Bloomsholm, Avondale, on the 12th of November, 1821. (Transcribed from OPR Ref. 621/4, FR532)

Daughter of John Young and Agnes Findlay.

John and Agnes were married on the 12th of May, 1842 in Avondale. (Transcribed from OPR Ref. 621/4, FR660)

John is at Redding with his father and several brothers and sisters on the 1841 census.

John and Agnes are at Redding Farm, Avondale, on the 1851, 1861, 1871, 1881 and 1891 census. John, widowed, is at Redding on the 1901 census.

  2. Agnes is at Redding on the 1881, 1891 and 1901 census. She never married, and died at Redding on the 11th of June 1916.

    Married Robert Struthers, son of Robert Struthers and Sarah Wilson.

  5. Andrew is at Redding on the 1871, 1881, 1891 and 1901 census. He never married, and died at Hayfield(?), Avondale, on the 12th of July 1928.

  6. Isabella Wilson, born at Redding on the 9th of November 1848. (Transcribed from OPR Ref. 621/4, FR614)

    Isabella married James Wilson (b. Avondale c.1831) of Hookhead Farm at Redding on the 1st of December, 1876. He was the son of Francis Wilson and Elizabeth Blackwood. They are at Hookhead on the 1881 and 1891 census. They had at least one child. Isabella died at Hookhead on the 1st of July 1889.

    John died in infancy.

    The OPR index fiche has the parents as JAMES WILSON/AGNES YOUNG. James' occupation on the 1871 census is Apprentice Grocer. He is possibly working as a Farm Servant at High Dykes Farm, Avondale, on the 1881 census.

  9. John Wilson, born at Redding on the 24th of March, 1856. (GROS Ref. 1856, 621, 53)

    John is at Redding on the 1881, 1891 and 1901 census. He married Elizabeth Wilson (b. Avondale c.1869) of West Kype, daughter of Robert Wilson and Elizabeth Morton, at West Kype on the 4th of June 1914. John died at Fechan(?!) Farm, Largs, on the 5th of July 1933 - cause of death is "sudden heart failure (owing to heat)"! His usual place of residence is given as Hayfield, Strathaven.

  10. William Wilson, born at Redding on the 29th of March, 1858. (GROS Ref. 1858, 621, 43)
  11. William is possibly working as a Farm Servant for his sister Ann and brother-in-law Robert Struthers at Side Farm, Avondale, on the 1881 census. He never married, and died at Murray's Royal Asylum, Perth, on the 4th of March 1942. His usual place of residence is given as Ivy Cottage, Kinross. His sister Helen lived there as well.

  12. Helen Wilson, born at Redding on the 19th of October, 1860. (GROS Ref. 1860, 621, 187)

    Helen is at Redding on the 1881 census. She worked as a Housekeeper, never married, and died at Ivy Cottage, Muirs(?), Kinross, on the 19th of February 1918. Her brother William also lived at this address.

    At least five of the above named children are buried in Strathaven cemetery. Their gravestone is inscribed:

Agnes died at Redding on the 18th of March, 1900.

John died at Redding on the 7th of April, 1902.
